The ending of Beowulf
At the end of Beowulf, Beowulf struggles to fight the dragon by himself and his people have no desire to help him. The battle scene between Beowulf and the dragon is fast pace and epic. There is just are just multiple attempts where Beowulf doesn't successed on slaying the dragon his kinsmen, Wiglaf helps him out to defeat the dragon. Beowulf dies and leaves his people to fiend for themselves. Wiglafs says that man people will come to the Geats and try to take them over.
In the end, Beowulf paid for his life while trying to fight for the gold against the dragon. I think through the whole story Beowulf has changed from being a young and fearless knight. To a wise old man that only fought for his people and not for glory. At line 2512, Beowulf gives his final speech before the battle of his life saying " I risked my life often when I was young. Now I am old, but as the king the people." Beowulf has become a wiser person since he fought Grendel and Grendel's mother. He decides to take the fight on by himself to protect his people by saying " This fight is not yours nor is it up to any man except me." " I shall win the gold by my courage..". This Beowulf is completely different from the young Beowulf who would brag about his glory and was trying to make a name for himself because people used to over look him. Now he was named one of the greatest kings of the Geats after his death.
